So now that I've gotten my Region and Truths both selected, I need to describe my Settlement - the place where the story begins. While there's an excellent name generator in the rules, I've instead turned to an online name generator that I like which yields Bildsfell and then created a quick map using another generator. Okay, I'm going to set myself a goal: a short paragraph (3-4 sentences) whenever I am describing place or scene. Here it goes:
Where the Hadtry's Run drains into frigid waters of Lucent fjord, Bildsfell hugs the craggy shoreline. Consisting of a few dozen stout dwellings, the settlement's Eastern and Western sides are connected by a single, ironwood bridge. The largest building is that of the venevaja or boathouse, where the longboats are drydocked and restored, while protected by a huge awning stitched from Orchare hides.
A variety of materials are used to construct the hamlet, but of particular note is Bildsfell's perimeter. The outer walls of the hamlet have been built of thick, featureless granite, many hands thick and reaching to the roofline. Quarrying, transporting, dressing and setting the stone has been a labour of countless generations. It is only thanks to the Bildsfeller's foresight and toils that the township has been able to repel bandits, raiders and worse numerous times over.
